Wireless power receiver ic supports both WPC and PMA standards
IDT's new wireless power receiver ic, the IDTP9021, is said to be the first to provide compatibility with both the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and Power Matters Alliance (PMA) standards.
The device integrates a synchronous full bridge rectifier, synchronous buck converter and control circuits to wirelessly receive an ac power signal from a compatible transmitter and convert it into a regulated 5V output voltage for powering and charging portal electronics.
It automatically switches between WPC and PMA protocols and negotiates the power exchange without user supervision, which IDT says simplifies the system architecture and ensures seamless operation during everyday use.
"The IDTP9021 empowers oems to easily support multiple standards with a single solution, which is a win-win for both oems and consumers," said Arman Naghavi, vp and general manager of IDT's analogue and power division.
