IDT has announced the IDTP9038, a Qi-compliant wireless power transmitter solution supporting a 5V input.
Compatible with the WPC 1.1 Qi standard for A5 and A11 coil configurations, the single chip solution is said to enable the development of USB powered wireless charging bases with 75% fewer ics than competing solutions.
The device features an embedded microcontroller and integrated full bridge inverter with low resistance FETs for minimised pcb space and high efficiency power transfer.
Also included is IDT's patent pending control circuit, which is optimised to achieve 15dB lower EMI performance compared to CISPR requirements.
The IDTP9038 features USB connectivity, meeting the requirements of BCS 1.2 (D+/D- detection) for fully controlled power delivery and added safety.
In addition, it includes a proprietary high power transfer mode capable of delivering up to 60% more power than specified by the Qi standard – transmitting up to 8W of power when paired with an IDT wireless power receiver.
