Back flip FPC connector features staggered contact array for narrow-pitch

Hirose Electric has launched what it claims is one of the industry’s smallest back flip FPC connectors for automotive and other harsh environment applications.

With a low-profile of 1.2 mm and a space-saving 0.3 mm pitch (0.6 mm mounting pitch), the FH79 Series offers a reduction in width of approximately 40% compared to standard 0.5 mm pitch connectors.

The high-density connector utilises a dual contact system (top and bottom contacts) and a staggered contact array design to maximise space efficiency and reduce the connector footprint.

Designed for harsh environment applications including automotive, the FH79 Series is heat resistant up to 125℃. The back flip design provides high contact reliability, preventing actuator opening with upward FPC routing.

Supporting high-speed transmission eDP ver1.3 and MIPI D-PHY ver2.1 standards, the FH79 Series connectors is well suited to support the digitisation of automotive, construction and agricultural equipment.

The FH79 Series is commonly used in automotive entertainment, robotics/factory automation, LiDAR, and sensing cameras, ensuring stable, high-speed connectivity.

The FH79 Series FPC connector is currently available in a 61-position version, with 11, 21, 31, 41 and 51 positions under development.
