The Bluetooth SIG recently released Bluetooth 5, which the company claims extends the performance of BLE. New features include a doubling of speed from 1 to 2Mbit/s, allowing twice as much data to be transferred, as well as a fourfold increase in range.
The IcyTRX silicon RF IP is said to be the first BLE RF to be fully validated as Bluetooth 5 compatible. Complete validation of all certification tests has been made possible due to a cooperation with Rohde & Schwarz, who has implemented the new Bluetooth functionality in its line of R&S CMW wideband radio communication testers.
