Supplied in 8pin TSSOPs, the converters are said to suit consumer and industrial applications, including wireless microphones, MP3 player accessories and blood glucose test devices. Other potential applications include motor control, instrumentation, sensor calibration and set point/offset trimming.
The integrated EEPROM enables D/A converter settings to be recalled at power up, while the choice of resolutions provides flexibility with design requirements and cost. A range of shutdown modes reduces the device's current consumption for power critical applications.
According to Microchip, the parts offer customers the ability to use the internal bandgap for device voltage reference, simplifying development and lowering system cost, or use an external voltage reference source in order to optimise their design.
