Non volatile, single channel digital to analogue converters
1 min read
Microchip has expanded its range of non volatile digital to analogue converters with the introduction of the MCP47x6 low power, single channel devices.
Featuring buffered 8, 10 and 12bit voltage output options and integrated EEPROM in 2 x 2mm DFN, or 6pin SOT23 packages, the converters are optimised to enable designers to develop more creative designs while meeting targets for reducing size and cost in consumer applications. These include wireless microphones and mp3 player accessories, as well as in industrial applications such as motor control, flow measurement, temperature control and light control.
According to Microchip, the integrated EEPROM enables d/a converter settings to be recalled at power up for added system flexibility. The choice of 8, 10 or 12bit resolution is said to provide flexibility to achieve the right balance of functionality and cost, whilst the buffered output voltage allows a selectable gain of 1 or 2 and provides a rail to rail output. Low power consumption of 210µA has been optimised to extend battery life and the small packages are said to enable a reduced footprint of the pcb.
