DC/DC converters meet FPGA power requirements

The EM21xx family of PowerSoC DC/DC step down converters from Intel Enpirion Power Solutions has been designed specifically to meet the demanding power requirements of FPGAs and other programmable logic devices

Three compact footprint-compatible devices are available, supporting outputs of 20, 30 and 40A. All three accept inputs ranging from 4.5 to 16V. The EM2120xxQ1 has an output voltage range of 0.7 to 5V and a load current of 20A. The EM2130xxQ1 provides voltages ranging from 0.7 to 3.6V, with a current of 30A, while the EM2140xxQ1 has a Vout of 0.7 to 1.325V and a continuous load current of 40A. Each comes in a QFN-100 measuring 11 x 17 x 7mm.

With a PMBus v1.2 compliant interface, the programmable and scalable devices feature ntegrated telemetry and system health monitoring. According to the developer, each part has an accuracy of better than 0.5%, a ripple of less than 1% and a transient deviation claimed to be less than 3%.
