Driver IC offers flexibility and convenience
International Rectifier has launched a new, two channel, Class D audio IC for high performance home theatre systems and car audio amplifiers.
The 200V IRS2052M integrates two channels into a single IC and features selectable deadtime and programmable bi-directional over current protection. It also has an integrated clock oscillator and clickless start and stop. It is optimised to work with IR's existing range of digital audio mosfets, which address output power from 50 to 300W.
"The new IRS2052M provides the flexibility and convenience of building popular stereo amplifiers and multi channel designs in a 2.1ch, 5.1ch or 6ch configuration," said Jun Honda, director of audio systems engineering, Energy Saving Products business unit. "The single channel device offers equivalent sound quality to Class AB amplifiers while providing the additional benefits of higher efficiency and smaller size."
