Power modules shrink pcb size by up to 70%
Said to shrink pcb size by up to 70% and simplify Class D amplifier design, International Rectifier's new PowlRaudio family of integrated power modules is targeted at home theatre systems and car audio amplifiers.
The devices integrate a pwm controller, two digital audio power mosfets and an advanced audio controller IC in a single package. According to IR, they are capable of operating without a heat sink over a wide power supply range on either a single or split power supply.
The single channel IR4301M and dual channel IR4302M are designed for building stereo amplifier and multi channel designs in various channel configurations. The devices' 5 x 6 and 7 x 7mm PQFN packages are said to enhance the benefit of utilising a smaller size of Class D topology.
Other key features include high voltage ratings, over current protection, thermal shutdown, internal/external shutdown, noise immunity and floating differential input.
