Embedded wireless modules target M2M applications

Now available from Solid State Supplies is a new series of embedded wireless modules for use in M2M applications such as point of sale, smart grid, fleet management and tracking solutions.
Developed by Sierra Wireless, the AirPrime HL Series modules measure only 22 x 23mm and are completely interchangeable across 2G, 3G and 4G technologies.
The devices also include optional global satellite navigation (GPS and GLONASS) capability, providing manufacturers with the ability to offer products that can handle multiple network technologies across many geographic regions.
The HL Series has been designed for maximum flexibility in production: manufacturers have a choice of either soldering the modules onto boards for applications that require high volume production; or they can use a snap-in socket.
Use of the snap-in socket allows manufacturers to place an HL series module in their end product at any time in the production cycle, in addition to having the ability to easily replace and upgrade 2G modules for 3G or 4G modules in the future, even in field-deployed products.
