Embedded modules simplify 2G to 4G migration

A new family of embedded wireless modules has been introduced by Sierra Wireless, which it claims is the first to offer interchangeability between 2G, 3G and 4G technologies.
The ultra small (22 x 23mm) devices in the AirPrime HL series feature both snap-in and solder-down options, allowing device manufacturers to replace 2G modules for 3G and 4G ones in the future, even in completed and field-deployed devices.
Sampling now, the embedded modules are targeted at M2M communications applications in point of sale, smart grid and fleet management. Mass production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
