Gate drivers offer fastest propogation delays

Six AEC-Q100-qualified gate drivers have been launched by Texas Instruments, designed to offer ultra fast propagation delays of less than 15ns.

The UCC275xx-Q1 family of single and dual channel gate drivers is targeted at automotive applications such as powertrains, bi-directional converters (12 to 48V and 12 to 400V input), onboard charging, traction inverters, advanced driver assistance systems, safety, headlamps and instrumentation clusters. TI says the low propagation delays offered by the drivers helps automotive systems efficiently switch power electronics at high frequencies to maintain a small footprint and reduce overall vehicle weight. With peak currents ranging from 2.5 to 5A and propagation delays of less than 15ns, the solutions can replace discrete totem pole solutions, cutting board space, reducing system cost and enabling the gate drivers to be placed closer to the switch. The devices operate over a wide temperature range of between -40 and 140°. Their negative input voltage of -5V enables the handling of ground bouncing experienced in harsh environments.
