LDOs reduce phase noise in wideband communication systems
Analog Devices has launched a new range of low noise LDO regulators for rf signal devices.
The ADM7150 and ADM7151 operate from 4.5 to 16V, provide up to 800mA of output current and support output voltages from 1.5 to 50V.
In addition, the LDOs achieve an output noise spectral density of 1.4nV/rtHz from 10kHz to 1MHz, reducing voltage controlled oscillator phase noise in point to point microwave radios, satellite communications, defence electronics and other wideband applications.
According to ADI, the devices achieve line and load transient response of 0.01%/V and 0.4%/A respectively with a 10µF ceramic output capacitor.
The LDOs also feature high power supply rejection ratio performance of greater than 90dB from 1 to 100kHz, and greater than 60dB at 1MHz. This effectively filters dc/dc switching regulator ripple, saving space by minimising the size of discrete filtering components normally needed.
