Logic IC couplers support 5Mb/s data rates for industrial applications
1 min read
Designed to reduce power consumption in industrial designs, Toshiba's recently launched photocouplers are capable of data rates up to 5Mb/s.
Offering buffer logic and inverter logic configurations respectively, the TLP2355 and TLP2358 logic IC couplers are supplied in S06 packages measuring 7.0 x 3.7 x 2.1mm. Operating at temperatures from -40 to 125°C, the devices are suitable for use in programmable logic controllers, measurement and control equipment, as well as IPM drives for factory automation systems.
Both photocouplers can accommodate a supply voltage range of 3 to 20V and have a low maximum threshold input current of 1.6mA. Maximum power supply current is 3mA, with a maximum propagation delay time of 250ns.
The devices consist of a GaAlAs infrared led optically coupled to a high gain, high speed photodetector. The detector has a totem pole output stage with current sourcing and sinking capabilities. Both devices have a minimum isolation voltage rating of 3750Vrms, while an internal Faraday shield ensures a common mode transient immunity of ±20kV/µs.
