Low power comparators said to improve energy consumption
STMicroelectronics has introduced a new range of low power comparators, designed to enable improved energy efficiency and faster operation for equipment such as gas sensors, medical devices, safety systems and industrial controls.
The first in the new series is the TS881, which is compatible with supply voltages down to 1.1V over a wide temperature range, enabling longer operating times with smaller batteries.
Suitable for use in front end detection and measurement circuitry, the TS881 is also optimised for faster operation compared to competing devices, allowing a reduction in equipment response times.
With a low operating current of 210nA (typical at 25°C), the module is said to draw less than half the current of competing devices.
In addition, ST says the push-pull output circuitry reduces power consumption to the absolute minimum when driving any capacitive or resistive load.
