Low power motherboard

Portwell's sub-compact PEB-2738 motherboard from Review Display Systems has been designed for field applications and uses little power.
Manufactured by industrial pc specialist Portwell, the unit is based around Intel's low power Menlow XL chipset offering either the 1.1 or 1.3Ghz cpu. This Atom Z500 processor offers dual core performance for applications that can leverage simultaneous multithreading. The board will support FSB at 533MHz and up to 2GB of system memory.
According to RDS, the low power requirement of 3.96W at 12VDC ensures that motherboard heat generation within a system is kept to a minimum, allowing users to take advantage of the form factor of 102 x 146mm when designing the system housing. This, coupled with an operating temperature of -40 to 85oC makes the board suitable for systems built to be used in the field.
The board also features a compact flash socket, 2 x serial RS232 ports, 4x USB ports plus one Client USB port, Gigabit Ethernet and SDIO header.
An on board 24bit LVDS display driver capability can be enhanced to full independent dual display support via the SDVO expansion port.
Other features include on board audio and a watchdog timer. The board is suitable for applications where space is a premium and its extreme temperature range makes it suitable for outdoor control applications.
