Featuring up to 512kbyte of flash and 160kbyte of SRAM, the Cortex-M4 based MCUs also come with a true random-number generator that is said to streamline the development of security-conscious applications. The STM32L462 adds an AES-256 cryptographic hardware accelerator.
Other features include 12bit 5Msample/s A/D converters, internal voltage reference and ultra-low-power comparators. Multiple timers and a motor-control channel are accompanied by a temperature sensor and a capacitive-sensing interface, while the STM32L452 has a crystal-less USB2.0 controller.
Available in package sizes ranging from QFN48 to LQFP100, including a 3.36 x 3.66mm WLCSP, the MCUs are said to have a CoreMark score of 273, a ULPBench rating of 245 and to consume 36µA/MHz.
Development tools include the STM32CubeMX initialization-code generator and the STM32CubeL4 package.
