Communications technology specialist, CML Microsystems, has unveiled a new risc/dsp microcontroller product from its daughter company, Hyperstone.
The E2 is described as a high performance, RoHS compliant 32bit risc/dsp microcontroller, with features such as a programmable serial communications engine, ADC unit, 32kb of on chip I-RAM, with an external memory and peripheral interface controller.
Targeted at global industrial sensing and control, consumer, metering, scanning EPOS and other cost sensitive applications, the E2 offers what CML describes as an 'industry leading' performance (640MOPS/160MHz Peak) and has been priced for users wishing to move from an 8bit microcontroller to the performance and design benefits of 32bit architecture.
Hyperstone offers technical design support and a development kit for the E2, including a populated board, software development tools (IDE), C/C++ compiler, linker, assembler, source level debugger with profiler, runtime kernel and dsp library.
Other features include a 32bit unified risc and dsp processor architecture; dynamic frequency scaling; power down and sleep modes. It has 200mW power consumption, high code density, programmable 8 channel serial communications engine, 10bit 8Channel multiplexed A/D converter (sample rate 182kHz), a 2-channel DMA and a real-time clock.
The E2 is available now in a 144pin LQFP package (0 to 70ºC or –40 to 85ºC).
