Murata launches 15W dc/dc converters for transportation applications
Murata has announced the RUW15 series of 15W ultra wide single output isolated dc/dc converters, aimed at transport and industrial applications where the input voltage may vary and a hold up capability is required.
Accommodating a wide input range from 16 to 160VDC, the devices offer a high immunity to input surges and are able to 'ride through' drop outs by addition of a relatively small external capacitor. For example, Murata says the output can be maintained for up to 120ms at full load from any input when using a 900uF capacitor.
The series comprises three models, providing the nominal outputs of 5, 12 or 24VDC. Input to output isolation complies with the internationally recognised standard UL 60950 for reinforced isolation of up to 4kVAC test voltage.
A dc OK/power fail signal gives an advance warning of typically 2ms of the impending loss of output.
