Power supply controllers offer ‘industry’s best’ current limit accuracy
Intersil's new range of power controller devices is designed to meet the power supply requirements of industry standard usb devices. According to the company, the ISL6185/6 feature the industry's best current limit accuracy and the industry's widest operating voltage in a compact 3 x 3mm footprint.
The devices are optimised to provide port power for products based on the usb 2.0 and 3.0 interface standards to offer designers several current limit level options with an accuracy Intersil claims is 3x better than competitive solutions. The range comes in industry standard packages for easy, drop in replacement as well as a new, smaller package.
The series consists of eight individual product variants and three package options. It is rated for a nominal 2.5 to 5V range and specified over full commercial and industrial temperature ranges. Each device features internal current monitoring, accurate current limiting, reverse bias protection and current limited delay to turn-off for system supply protection, along with control and communication I/O. Off state supply current is one microAmp.
