The connectors are suitable for a variety of applications in data communications, including high end computing servers and PCs, telecommunications and networking infrastructure equipment. They are also suitable for use in consumer and home appliances.
The connectors include early entry system crimp terminals that provide a longer pin wipe to enable more reliable contact. In addition, the centre polarisation key is integral to preventing mis-mating.
The range’s positive locking capability is ensured using locking ramps that provide a strong retention force to header and locking windows to provide firm locking to the receptacle. The shrouded single-row design also facilitates greater terminal protection and space saving, and the device provides marking for first circuit location.
The connectors are available with a number of different options, including: different solder-tail lengths of 2.60, 3.60 and 4.60mm, which enables the use of PCBs with different thicknesses for through-hole-style applications; and an array of gold and tin plating.
Also available are retention pegs for surface-mount terminations on the PCB before solder processing. Other specifications for the range include: 125V AC and 2.5A maximum ratings; low level contact resistance of 30milliohms; insulation resistance of 1000megaohms; and operating temperatures ranging from –40 to 70°C.
