Expanding its portfolio of clock and timing solutions, Integrated Device Technology has launched a low jitter voltage controlled surface acoustic wave oscillator for high end optical networking and telecom applications.
The M690SDM incorporates an analogue frequency multiplier and single ended rf output with jitter rated at less than 270rms integrated across the 20kHz to 20MHz frequency band.
It is available with an output frequency in the 1.5 to 2.1GHz range and, according to IDT, meets the low bit error ratio requirements for today's high speed 40 and 100G board designs used in telecommunications and optical networking applications.
"The M690SDM expands our industry leading timing portfolio by leveraging our core competencies, such as high performance rf integrated circuits, SAW technology and discrete rf/microwave design," said Fred Zust, vp and general manager of IDT's communications division. "By combining these areas of expertise, IDT provides high performance, feature rich solutions that easily meet the ultra low phase noise and jitter requirements of our customers in the telecom and optical networking markets."
The M690SDM is said to provide 10dBm output power and eliminate the need for an additional amplifier. The device is offered in a surface mount technology package to minimise its footprint and save board area.
