Low jitter VCSOs target fiber optic telecom applications
1 min read
IDT has announced a new series of low jitter silicon germanium (SiGe) voltage controlled SAW oscillators (VCSOs).
Designed to meet the stringent requirements of fiber optic telecom applications, the M675S02 series is a single frequency, single output VCSO for low jitter and low phase noise clock generation, supporting fundamental frequencies from 500MHz to 1GHz.
The new device is said to provide higher frequencies than previous generations, making it suitable for phase locked loop applications, clock and data recovery circuits and other timing applications in telecom and optical fiber networking systems.
"With the M675S02, we've built upon the success of the M675 family of VCSOs and increased the frequency range to address new high performance markets," said Fred Zust, vp and general manager of the Timing and Synchronization Division at IDT. "To achieve these high frequencies, we had to look beyond our standard cmos process to SiGe. The result is a demonstration of our innovation and continued commitment to providing the industry's broadest portfolio of timing products."
The M675S02 is available in a 5 x 7.5mm package and offers a ±120ppm absolute pull range, linear tuning and a 600kHz modulation bandwidth.
