Configurable Power Supply Selected for Multislice CT Scanner
A leading global medical technology and life sciences company has integrated Advanced Energy’s Artesyn MicroMP (µMP) configurable and digital power supply into a multislice CT scanner. Computed Tomography (CT) is a medical diagnostic imaging test used to create detailed images of internal organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels.
The Artesyn µMP is a flexible AC-DC power supply with medical safety approvals that provides up to 1800 W across up to 12 outputs. It was originally developed to reduce the need for custom power supplies. In some cases, it rivals the cost of non-configurable units while providing market-leading density, efficiency and reliability.
There are four case options differentiated by four or six output slots and maximum power outputs of 600, 1100, 1200 and 188 watts respectively. Users can configure the power supply from a wide variety of adjustable power modules, ranging from 0.9 to 60 Volts, enabling nearly limitless output power configurations across up to 12 outputs.
It features a very wide 85 to 264 VAC input voltage range and employs active power factor correction to minimize input harmonic current distortion and to ensure compliance with the international EN61000-3-2 standard – they have a power factor of 0.99 typical. The power supplies also feature active AC inrush control to automatically limit inrush current at turn-on to 40 A maximum
