High performance Pico-ITX board features Intel Core Ultra 7 and Ultra 5 processors

Embedded systems and display solutions provider, Review Display Systems (RDS) has announced the introduction of the new AAEON PICO-MTU4, the smallest single-board computer to host the new Intel Core Ultra Processor platform.

Compact size, impressive performance

The smallest single board computer equipped with the new Intel Core Ultra platform, the PICO-MTU4 implements a unique hybrid CPU core architecture and dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) AI engine to achieve an increase of up to 24% boost in multi-thread performance and a 50% reduction in SoC power consumption. In combination with the compact 100mm x 72mm PICO-ITX form factor, this ensures the PICO-MTU4 is capable of powering advanced edge computing applications, smart healthcare equipment and advanced robotics systems.

Unique design and integrated features

With a unique design that optimises component placement and features a dedicated heatsink, the PICO-MTU4 boasts a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. Additionally, with advanced on-board graphics, high data throughput and Wi-Fi 6 support these features ensure the PICO-MTU4 can be used as a central component for smart industrial solutions and roadside traffic management systems, where real-time data processing and effective AI workload management are crucial.

High-bandwidth communication and connectivity

Complementing the PICO-MTU4’s processing power is high-bandwidth LPDDR5x system memory and broad range of peripheral interfaces. Dual LAN and USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports can accommodate a range of cameras and sensors, while the internal connectors offer a variety of serial interfaces for industrial protocols, such as dual COM for RS-232/422/485, a 4-bit GPIO, and SMBus. This configuration makes the PICO-MTU4 the ideal foundation for SCADA, MES, and system monitoring devices.
