ARM, Globalfoundries sign 28nm SoC deal
ARM and Globalfoundries have entered a long term strategic relationship to provide their mutual customers with an innovative SoC enablement program.
The program, built around ARM's physical, fabric and processor IP, will target Globalfoundries' high K metal gate (HKMG) semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. Initially, the efforts will focus on SoC products featuring the Cortex-A9 processor on Globalfoundries' 28nm HKMG process.
"This announcement reflects our business value and strategy of providing best in class processor implementation by marrying our processor and physical IP with world class manufacturing semiconductor technology," said Warren East, ARM's ceo. "This collaboration with Globalfoundries and its commitment to delivering leading edge technology, makes it an ideal partner to accelerate the adoption of ARM processor based technology at 28nm."
