Audio processor offers ‘outstanding’ sound quality
STMicroelectronics has introduced the STA321MP, an audio processor optimised for miniaturised, high quality equipment such as Smartphones.
The device is part of ST's SoundTerminal audio IC range and features a built in interface for a MEMS digital microphone as well as a standard microphone input. The chip connects directly to the latest miniature microphones and is said to boost performance from small, low cost, or even damaged speakers. According to ST, the device will allow customers to deliver miniaturised audio products offering 'outstanding' sound quality.
The STA321MP has small dimensions, low sensitivity to noise and permits direct connection of a MEMS microphone. It has a second MEMS input that can be connected to a tiny sensor for detecting speaker movements, to allow designers to apply active sound shaping and optimise speaker performance.
