According to Peregrine, RonCoff is a key metric for RF switching and acts as the company’s performance benchmark for new generations of UltraCMOS. RonCoff is said to be the ratio between how much loss occurs when a radio signal goes through a switch in its on state and how much the signal leaks through the capacitor in its off state. Peregrine says it targets a 20% improvement in this parameter and claims UltraCMOS 12 surpasses this.
“For nearly three decades, UltraCMOS has been at the forefront of RF SoI performance – especially for RF switching,” said Alain Duvallet, VP of RF process technology. “This continues with the introduction of UltraCMOS 12.”
UltraCMOS 12 uses a custom fabrication flow from Globalfoundries. “Our joint development with Peregrine continues to produce remarkable results, and UltraCMOS 12 is the latest success story,” said Raj Nair, the foundry’s VP of technology development. “This new RF SOI technology reaffirms our commitment to the RF market.”
