Bridgelux secures $60million to advance silicon based led technology
LED lighting specialist Bridgelux has received $60million in a Series E funding round led by Craton Equity Partners.
According to the Californian company's ceo, Bill Watkins, the equity will be used to accelerate Bridgelux' research into Gan on Silicon technologies and led chip on board architecture. In March this year the firm announced a GaN on Silicon based led technology with a light output of 135 lumens per watt, which it claimed was the industry's first commercial grade performance for a silicon based led.
"This additional capital will accelerate our breakthrough development efforts in producing commercial grade leds on silicon and in creating new packaging solutions for our led chips," said Watkins. "We think our proprietary innovation in both of these areas is critical to driving market adoption."
