Broadcom to acquire NetLogic Microsystems

The deal will extend its infrastructure portfolio with technologies such as knowledge based processors, multicore embedded processors and digital front end processors. According to Broadcom, the combination will enable it to deliver 'best in class' integrated network platforms. The transaction, which is expected to close in the first half of 2012, has been approved by both companies' boards of directors and is subject to customary closing conditions.
