NetLogic acquires dfe processor specialist
In a move to expand its footprint in 4G LTE base stations, Net Logic Microsystems has acquired Californian based fabless semiconductor company Optichron in a deal worth approximately £77million.
"Optichron's breakthrough digital front end (dfe) technology enables unprecedented performance, signal bandwidth, spectrum maximisation and power efficiency for next generation LTE deployments requiring the highest data rates and lowest power consumption," said Ron Jankov, president and ceo of NetLogic Microsystems. "The acquisition of Optichron will expand and broaden our footprint in 3/4G LTE base stations by complementing our market leading portfolio of multi core processors, knowledge based processors and 10Gigabit Ethernet PHY solutions."
The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2011.
