Broadcom unveils IoT prototyping platform
Broadcom has expanded its Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices (WICED) family with a development kit that is said to enable the rapid development of prototypes and concepts for IoT devices and applications.
The WICED Sense development kit includes Broadcom's latest Bluetooth Smart chip and five MEMS devices and comes with a Bluetooth 4.1 compatible software stack.
"With hundreds of new ideas for applications and devices for the IoT being hatched daily, it is critical that developers can quickly test their concepts and bring them to market ahead of the competition," said Brian Bedrosian, Broadcom's senior director, embedded wireless, wireless connectivity. "Broadcom's WICED Sense development kit provides an easy to use, low cost and complete testing package for OEMs and start ups alike to continue pushing the limits on technology innovation."
Alongside Broadcom's BCM20737 Bluetooth module, the kit comes with MEMS sensors providing gyroscope, accelerometer, E-compass, barometer, and humidity and temperature functionality.
