Buck converter offers highest current density
Texas Instruments' new synchronous step down dc/dc converter, the SWIFT 10A TPS54020, is said to offer the highest current density available.

Supplied in an ultra small HotRod QFN package, the 17V synchronous buck converter includes 200KHz to 1.2MHz adjustable switching frequency, 180° out of phase switching and selectable 6, 8 and 10A current limit thresholds.
It also integrates 8mO highside and 6mO low side mosfets, which TI claims provide up to 96% efficiency from 12V down to 1V.
Anticipated applications include communication, gaming and industrial computing.
