CES: ARM partnership focuses on connected tv market

Semiconductor IP supplier, ARM has entered into a partnership with a provider of technology solutions for digital pay tv to enable the delivery of over the top content and services.
The cooperation with NDS is designed to enable connected tv manufacturers to implement a ready made software solution that will provide a framework for ott services, integrated with a variety of devices.
NDS' Infinite TV suite of technologies enables the optimisation of ott content on any device, allowing viewers to watch content that can be monetised through advanced advertising models on connected tvs or any internet capable device.
Lance Howarth, ARM's senior vice president and general manager, Media Processing Division, said: "The connected tv market is an area in which we see great potential for growth. Building on ARM's momentum in the home entertainment market, we believe that a platform based around a dual ARM Cortex-A9 processor and ARM Mali-400 MP gpu will provide connected tv manufacturers with the very best in performance and outstanding graphics capability.
