Digital power module delivers 17A output current

Capable of delivering up to 17A output current, the fully encapsulated device has been configured using a point and click PowerNavigator GUI and comes in a 15 x 15mm QFN package. It is said to provide an 'industry leading' power density of 1275W/in³. The power module features built-in auto compensation algorithms, which optimise transient response over varying load conditions. In addition, it has an industry standard PMBus interface which supports remote performance monitoring and re-programming of installed systems. Thermal resistance is rated at 11°C, which Intersil claims eliminates the need for a heat sink or air flow in most applications. Higher current demands are supported by paralleling modules with automatic current sharing.
