Embedded instruments launched for Arria V fpgas

Goepel electronic has announced the first ChipVORX model libraries for Altera's Arria V GX fpgas. The models support embedded test and embedded programming.
ChipVORX allows users to implement Embedded System Access (ESA), omitting nail or probe contacting. Under Jtag control, the Altera fpgas are used as design integrated test centres, helping to increase test quality and to reduce effort.
"Our ChipVORX models simultaneously provide ideal support applying innovative test and programming strategies", says Heiko Ehrenberg, Goepel's ESA technology officer. "The fpga embedded instruments can be used for prototype verification, as well as for production test, debugging and fault diagnosis."
ChipVORX models are Intellectual Properties that enable the implementation and control of chip embedded instruments. They support a range of fpga assisted test and programming functions.
Within the ChipVORX framework, instruments are temporarily loaded into the fpga, configured and controlled as soft macros via the IEEE 1149.1 TAP. The work flow is automatic and synthesis free. For all test, measurement and programming procedures there are automatic generators that analyse the functional structure of the unit under test and establish an interconnection from instrument to signal pin. Interactive graphical control panels are said to facilitate debugging.
ChipVORX models for Arria V fpgas were developed in cooperation with Altera and alliance partner Testonica. Using ChipVORX is said not to require expert background knowledge, specific fpga tools or continuous IP adjustments.
