The embedded world Exhibition & Conference 2011 will see the launch of Kontron's new embedded platforms based on Intel's second generation Core i3/i5/i7 processors, as well as a COM Express module based on the new AMD Embedded G series platform and enhanced software services.
The Kontron COM Express Computer on Module ETXexpress-SC, built around second generation Intel Core i5/i7 processors, unites processing cores, graphics unit, memory controller and PCIe controller on a single 32nm die to allow for compact designs with enhanced computing and graphics performance. In addition, the COM Express module based on the new AMD Embedded G-series platform combines the cpu and a programmable gpu on a single energy efficient apu to provide an optimised price/performance ratio, 1080p hd reproduction and smaller form factors.
Kontron is also enhancing its software service range to support customers in application development. The new service offer includes I/O programming of fpgas and migration service including validation and verification for platforms to implement standardised access and control of hardware resources through Kontron's cross platform middleware embedded application programming interface. According to the company, the aim is for customers to always be able to obtain application ready platforms without having to worry about the details of the hardware functions.
