Funding boost for imec’s low cost ic prototyping service
The European Commission has pledged to continue funding imec's Europractice IC services for another three years.
The service, which is run in collaboration with partners STFC and Fraunhofer IIS, helps get European asic based products to market quickly and cost effectively, with the ultimate aim of providing the best and most advanced chip solutions to European research institutes and start ups.
Europractice IC also offers dedicated training courses on design flows and methods in advanced technologies, enabling academics and research centres to gain access to state of the art CAD tools for training and non commercial research.
The service has so far been adopted by 500 universities, 150 research centres and more than 200 European companies. There are now plans to expand its offering from asic services to prototyping possibilities in MEMS and photonics related technologies.
