Revenue was generated through R&D contracts with industrial partners and universities around the world, as well as ASIC and system design, prototyping and low volume manufacturing services. It also received funding from European research initiatives, a grant of €47.7m from the Flemish government and €2.75m of Dutch funding to support work at Holst Centre.

During the year, imec staff published 998 scientific papers and filed a record number of 180 European patents.
