‘Industry’s smallest’ mosfets unveiled by ON Semiconductor

Targeted at portable consumer electronics devices such as tablets, smartphones and GPS systems, ON Semiconductor's new small signal mosfets are said to be smallest in the industry.
The new NTNS3193NZ and NTNS3A91PZ are housed in a 0.62 x 0.62 x 0.4mm XLLGA3 package, with a total surface mount area of 0.38mm².
The NTNS3193NZ is a 20V, single N channel mosfet with 0.75O typical on resistance at ±4.5VGS device. The NTNS3A91PZ meanwhile is a 20V, single P channel device, with 1.3O typical on resistance at ±4.5V.
"As portable electronics continue to decrease in size, there is, and will continue to be, an ongoing need for ultra small, high performance components to make feature rich devices energy efficient and highly functioning," said Paul Leonard, vp of ON's mosfet products division.
"The NTNS3193NZ and NTNS3A91PZ do just this by enabling design engineers to specify a device that has the necessary features and functionality while still allowing sleek, stylish designs that consumers have now come to expect."
With low RDS(on), low threshold voltage, and 1.5V gate drive capability, Leonard claims the mosfets greatly reduce power consumption when incorporated in portable electronic products, making them ideally suited for small signal load switches, analogue switches and high speed interfacing.
Both devices are fully Pb free, halogen free and RoHS compliant.
