Infineon keeps top spot in power supplier ranking
Despite a slowdown in the overall power market in 2012, Infineon remained the leading supplier of power semiconductor discretes and modules, reports IHS.
The company held an 11.8% share of global market revenue, almost unchanged from 12% in 2011. It also led No. 2 player Toshiba by 4.7 percentage points.
"Infineon maintained its leadership in the total discrete market and in the discrete igbt segments," said Victoria Fodale, senior semiconductor market analyst for IHS. "The company also continued to increase its share in the power mosfet space."
Toshiba attained the second strongest growth among the top 10 players with growth of 0.6 percentage points.
No. 3 Mitsubishi Electric maintained leadership in power modules, although the company's share of the market declined.
ON Semiconductor, meanwhile, achieved a more than 1 percentage point increase in share in 2012, partially driven by its acquisition of Sanyo.
