Intel Atom processors target notebook market
Intel has launched further Atom processors. Developed as Cedar Trail, the additions are aimed at netbooks, where they are expected to enable affordable products with extended battery life, and at embedded applications.
The dual core Atom N2600 and the single core Atom N2800 work alongside Intel's NM10 Express Chipset. Meanwhile, the dual core D2500 and D2700 processors are aimed at entry level desktops and what the company calls 'all in one designs', as well as intelligent system solutions.
Manufactured on a 32nm process, the processors have a lower thermal design power (TDP) and additional power management features.
The D2700 is capable of running at 2.13GHz and is the first Atom processor to break the 2GHz barrier. It consumes 10W, while the 1.65GHz N2600 draws 3.5W and the 1.86GHz N2800 has a TDP of 6.5W.
