IPextreme to market Motorola clock IP
Semiconductor IP licensing specialist IPextreme has been selected by Motorola to take its clock generation technology to market.
The patented Multiple Reference Clock Generator (MRCG) is a digital clock synthesis technology that is claimed to offer an ‘attractive’ alternative to analogue Phase Locked Loops for the generation of on chip clocks with frequencies ranging from 2MHz to 1GHz.
Jim O’Connor, Motorola’s corporate vice president of technology acceleration, said: “Bringing MRCG to market for licensing is an example of how Motorola’s investment in creating valuable technology can be monetised and leveraged by companies all over the world.”
Warren Savage, IPextreme’s president and ceo, noted: “MCRG is unique and differentiated IP that will provide our customers doing advanced semiconductor design with a technology that will differentiate their chips from competitors using older clock generation technology.”
