Maxim unveils industry's smallest 3/8/12/18A dc/dc regulators
Maxim Integrated Products has unveiled what it claims to be the industry's smallest current mode synchronous dc/dc converters that deliver up to 3, 8, 12 and 18A of output current.
The MAX15058, MAX15108, MAX15112 and MAX15118 dc/dc regulators integrate mosfets in a bid to simplify designs and provide high efficiency in a tiny wafer level package.
According to Maxim, the devices operate in fixed pulse width modulation and are suitable for telecom, networking, server and base station applications. Configured in a pulse skip mode, Maxim says the regulators will reduce power during light load conditions found in notebook and single cell battery applications.
At full load, Maxim says the MAX15058, MAX15112 and MAX15118 deliver up to 94% while the MAX15108 delivers up to 95%. All four devices operate from a 2.7 to 5.5V input voltage and are designed to provide ±1% output/voltage accuracy over load, line and temperature. The devices are fully specified over the -40 to 85°C extended temperature range.
