Mentor Graphics has acquired certain assets of Oasys Design Systems, including the Oasys RealTime Engine. This features in Oasys RealTime, which is intended to help SoC and asic design teams to get their products to market more quickly.
According to Mentor, this acquisition aligns with its goal to deliver a digital implementation platform that addresses the performance, power and area challenges presented by advanced nodes.
"The Oasys team has done an exceptional job in developing an innovative synthesis platform that delivers compelling value at advanced nodes," said Pravin Madhani, general manager of Mentor's Place & Route Division. "With this acquisition, Mentor will deliver a best in class RTL to GDSII digital implementation platform."
Oasys was founded by a team of RTL synthesis veterans, led by Paul van Besouw, Johnson Limqueco and Harm Arts. By taking a 'placement first' approach to synthesis and floorplanning, its software enables physical back end issues to be analyzed and addressed early in the design phase.
According to van Besouw, Oasys' chairman and chief technology officer: "We are excited to be a part of Mentor Graphics and look forward to delivering the next generation RTL synthesis solution to the market."
