Mentor Graphics has bought German XS Embedded in a move which strengthens its ability to address such elements as advanced driver assistance systems, driver information and infotainment.
"XS Embedded is recognised for its deep automotive domain expertise and IP, including the AXSB automotive ready reference board and software modules," said Glenn Perry, general manager of Mentor's Embedded System Division. "Its hardware design and architecture expertise, combined with Mentor's automotive technology suite, provides greater flexibility."
With more than 10 years of experience in automotive electronics design, XS is involved in 20 automotive programmes that combine hardware and software expertise and is said by Mentor to bring a 'pioneering approach' to system design and verification.
Its approach is said to provide Tier 1 suppliers with automotive ready reference platforms, reducing time to market and improving architectural optimisation.
Rainer Oder, XS' managing director, added: "Next generation ADAS systems are a great example of the need for a unified vehicle software infrastructure and we are proud to be the first to market with an end to end solution."
