Module is ‘power supply in a package’
Intersil has introducted the ISL8216M, an 80V, 4A non isolated DC/DC step down power module and says this marks its entrance into high voltage infrastructure and industrial applications.
The ISL8216M is said to be a power supply in a package that can be used across multiple applications, requiring minimal design effort and speeding time to market.
The module supports input voltages ranging from 10 to 80V and has five preset outputs – 5, 12, 20, 24 and 30V. However, any voltage within the range from 2.5 to 30V can be set with one resistor. This, says Intersil, makes it suitable for use in 12, 24, 36 and 48V applications.
The ISL8216M, which requires five external components, comes in a rugged thermally enhanced HDA package measuring 15 x 15 x 3.6mm which allows operation without heat sinks or fans. Protection features include overcurrent, over- and undervoltage and over temperature.
