Motor control mcu simplifies system development
An ARM Cortex-M3 based microcontroller from Toshiba enables the control of motor drives and overall systems. The TMPM384FDFG combines a large memory with multipurpose timer channels, a/d converters and enhanced I/O ports.
According to Toshiba, motor control applications generally consist of a motor drive unit and a system control unit, both of which integrate a microcontroller and software. The TMPM384FDFG is said to allow one mcu to perform both functions, bringing more efficient system development and a reduction in development and production costs.
The device, which features 512kbyte of flash and 32kbyte of sram, requires a 5V power supply and includes a 22 channel 12bit a/d converter.
Housed in an 0.5mm pitch lqfp144 package, the device measures 20 x 20mm and is scheduled for production in November 2013.
