Multilayer varistor provides fastest esd response claims AVX
Advanced passive components specialist, AVX has announced an ultra low capacitance 0603 device, designed to provide sub 1nS response to external electrostatic discharge (esd) strikes.
As part of AVX' AEC Q200- qualified automotive AntennaGuard series multilayer varistor (mlv) devices, it provides low insertion loss, low leakage current and 'unsurpassed' reliability compared to diode options. Featuring bi directional protection, the device is suitable for automotive applications including rf circuits, sensors, gps antenna and high speed signal transmission lines.
"The AntennaGuard mlv series offers our customers the fastest esd response of any multilayer varistor on the market today," said Jeremiah Woods, global marketing manager for circuit protection. "The AntennaGuard series also minimises the parasitic capacitance and signal distortion, maximising the signal strength and speed."
Meeting 27.5Vdc 'jump start' requirements, the series provides an esd rating of 25kV, while the low profile 0603 mlv is said to feature a fast response time to esd and can withstand successive 1k strikes at 8kV (IEC 61000–4-2).
