Numonyx launches officially
Numonyx – the memory joint venture between Intel and STMicroelectronics – has now launched officially, following a longer than expected gestation period.
Numonyx will initially address demand for non volatile memory. Its heritage means it is the leading provider of NOR flash, whilst it also holds a range of NAND technologies and dram products. According to the company, it is now the third largest non volatile memory provider with annual revenues of about $3billion.
“It is rare when a company starts in such a strong position,” said Brian Harrison, Numonyx’ ceo. “The complementary nature of the two parent companies’ products, technologies and expertise has given us a competitive edge. Immediately, Numonyx is a formidable memory solutions provider.”
